Understanding Our Salvation: Part One

Understanding Our Salvation: Part One

The issue of salvation or being saved is the primary and fundamental aspect of the Kingdom message and mandate. It is the beginning of our response to the work of Jesus Christ in God’s plan of helping mankind after the fall in the Garden. It is important to understand from the start that salvation is instantaneous and a process.

It is an event, a process and an ultimate end. In this part of our journey and study we are going to touch on the initial instantaneous part of salvation. The process part of it and the ultimate part of it are beyond the scope of this book as this book is there for the foundational aspect of the Kingdom walk of the believer.

Therefore he is able to SAVE COMPLETELY those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them. [Heb7: 25 NIV emphasis mine]

UNDERSTANDING THE WORDS.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth [Rom 1:16]
The word salvation is from the Greek word ‘soteria’ which literally means:
Rescue or safety (physically or morally): - deliver, health, salvation, save, saving.
It is a word that means a number of things as stated in the above. Another word carrying the same meaning which is used interchangeably in scripture with the word salvation is the word, ‘save’

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God
Not of works, lest any man should boast. [Eph 2:8-9]
The word save is from the Greek word ‘sozo’ which literally means to save, that is,
deliver or protect (literally or figuratively): - heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.

From this comprehensive understanding of the words we see that the issue of being saved does not only cover the generally understood issue of being saved from eternal condemnation and punishment because of sin but covers many aspects. In summary being saved is being rescued to safety in all aspects of our lives and covers a number of aspects as stated in the above definitions.

a)Save- from eternal condemnation and punishment because of sin. [Joh 3: 18, Col 1: 14]

b) Delivered from the power and influence of The Devil and all forces of Darkness, demons, generational spirits and all the curses. [Col 1: 13, 1 John 4: 4]

c) Healed from all sicknesses and infirmities for the whole being, spirit , soul and body. [1 Pet 2: 24]

d) Preserved from all forces and powers that are there to work against you. [Gal 1: 4, 1 Joh 4: 4]

e) Do Well- To Prosper, Overcome, and Qualify and be removed from poverty and unfruitfulness. [2 Pet 1: 2-4, Eph 1: 3, 1 Cor 3: 21, 1 Joh 5: 4]

f) Made whole- spirit, soul and body resulting in a complete being not disadvantaged in any way. To Qualify. [Col 1: 12, Jam 1: 17: 18]

WHAT WERE WE SAVED FROM

WHAT WERE WE SAVED FROM
I am going to take an unconventional way to explain this issue in a way that is not common but what the Lord has revealed to me as the best approach to the subject. The result is so enlightening and will make an understanding of this issue so easy.

After the fall of man God was left with two options, to destroy the whole human race out of the picture or to save the people to safety. God in His wisdom found a plan that somehow incorporated the two options in a loving and intelligent way. God saved us from Adam thereby indirectly dealing with sin, the devil and other consequences of the fall like health and wealth.

The devil tempted eve in the Garden of Eden because she was not fully informed but Adam was not tempted. He intelligently succumbed to the devil. He was fully aware of what he was doing. The result was the fall of the whole human race. God had warned Adam that the day he would eat of the tree he would die. When then did he die? Was it instantaneous or a process?

He died immediately in spirit, progressively in the soul and ultimately in the body. After God had given complete authority and dominion over the whole earth to man, man was now in charge of the destiny of the earth. [Genesis 1: 26-28] The deception by the Devil made man to hand over the authority over the earth to him. [Luke 4: 6]

This meant that the Devil was now in charge of the whole world and all that was in it. Man was now under the slave mastery of the cruel master in the Devil. The decision to trust the Devil’s suggestions in the garden and not God was man walking out of a relationship with God. This separation is what the bible calls Sin and the inevitable result of this is death.

SUMMARY OF THE FALL AND THE RESULT
Adam and the whole human race that was in him were now out of fellowship with God and under the rule of the devil. The result of the fall was being under the devil, being sinners by nature, out of the preservation of God and hence vulnerable to sickness, poverty, stresses and all the negative forces you can name.

With this because of God’s Character man had to die and wait for judgment. Everyone who was to be born in the human race was separate from God, under the authority of the devil and subject to all the negative forces of sicknesses, poverty, stress, ageing and death and other pronounced consequences like pain at child bearing, enmity with the devil,

Toiling and hard working to earn a living. [Gen 3: 16-19] The only solution that God was left with was to kill the whole race and start a new one or to find a way of taking the race out of Adam. The word describes the result of being in Adam in the following verses from Romans 5: 12-19

….as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:…vs 12
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam…vs 14
…through the offence of one many be dead,…vs 15
…for the judgment was by one to condemnation….vs 16
Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men ..…vs 18
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners…vs 19
For as in Adam all die [1 Cor 15: 22]
